Account Configuration
To get started, you'll need an explanation of the basic process
of getting your Web site up and running. We'll assume that you
have just created a brand new Web hosting account and are ready
to make your Web presence known. After reviewing the information
below. You should visit the FAQ page for
answers to frequently asked questions.
 | Once the account is setup, either via our on-line
registration or over the phone, you'll need to wait for the
account to be set up completely on the server. This process
usually take about 15 minutes or less. To test this, type the
IP address or domain name, given to you during signup, into your Web browser.
An active account will result in a 'Welcome' and
under-construction page or your login page. If you feel that the account is
taking an unusually long time to become active, please notify
your ISP rep and we can help you out. |
| At this point you can begin to upload your files using an FTP client. Microsoft® FrontPage®
customers can also upload using the FrontPage Explorer program.

| Note however that the account will, temporarily only be
accessible via the IP address or temp assigned domain, not your new domain name
(yourname.com). Unless you're using a 3rd Level Domain (which
is available in minutes), the
domain name can take a few days to function due to the fact
that Network Solutions must register and propagate the name
across the entire Internet. This can take from 1-3 days for
new domains, and 3-7 days for domain name transfers. To test
the domain, simply type it into a Web browser and see if your
account comes up. |
| Once the domain name is functioning correctly, you may
want to visit the Control Panel for your account. This is
where you can configure your account settings such as e-mail,
statistics, secure server access, CGI scripts, and so forth.
To reach the Control Panel, type
www.yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/monstercontrols/
or if you're account is setup on the H-Sphere CP, then just
add "/cp" to the end of your domain name such as:
www.yourdomain.com/cp .
Your Control Panel contains everything you should need to
access all of your account options. This includes adding email
accounts, new scripts and changing passwords.
Note; the control panel may not be available
for free websites or 3rd Level Domains. Consult your ISP rep
if you can't access it. |
